Reginald Phillips

Was one of the most decorated track stars from the area, ranking among the top 10 United States hurdlers in 1975 and among the world’s best by Track and Field News magazine. At Coffee, he was named All-Tennessee Valley Conference 1971 and 1972 and All-State in 1972. He signed with Florence State and was Honorable Mention NAIA All-American in 1973 and was All-GSC in the 440 intermediate hurdles in ’73 and ’74. After Florence State dropped the track and field program he transferred to Alabama was AllSEC and team captain for the Tide in ’75 and ’76. Won the Billy Russell Memorial Award at Alabama for his performance on and off the track.
